RMWB Partnering With Red Cross To Support Flood Evacuees

The RMWB is partnering with the Canadian Red Cross to support people who’ve been evacuated due to the flood.

Evacuees are being encouraged to register with the Red Cross who’ll then be able to provide information and referrals, food and basic necessities, safety and wellness support, as well as re-entry support.

“We encourage anyone affected by the flooding to please register with Red Cross, so together with the Municipality, we can help ensure people get the information and assistance they need,” said Jenn McManus, Vice President, Canadian Red Cross, Alberta and Northwest Territories.

People can register daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. by calling 1-800-863-6582.

Those who don’t need support at this time are asked to register in a couple of days to allow those in need to get supports as soon as possible.

People in need of immediate accommodations should register at the Casman Centre.

“The Red Cross is a key partner in our region, including in response and recovery from the 2016 wildfire and we look forward to again working with them in support of our residents during this time,” added Mayor Don Scott.
