Opening of Willow Square Possibly Delayed From Flood

The opening of the Willow Square Continuing Care Facility is potentially being delayed due to the flood.

A spokesperson for Alberta Infrastructure says the parkade level of the building is currently flooded. At one point, it was under five feet of water.

The upper residential levels are currently unaffected from the flood.

Emergency personnel continue to restrict access to the facility, so crews have yet to inspect the building to determine the impacts on construction.

Back in January, the province stated they were hoping to open the facility in late 2020.

It’s currently unknown if, and for how long, the flood will push back the opening.
