WB Food Bank Receiving $25K Donation, Hosting Inaugural Virtual Food Drive

The Wood Buffalo Food Bank and Northland Forest Products are hosting their first-ever virtual food drive in hopes of collecting some much-needed donations.

As with most spring fundraisers, their Spring Food Drive had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the need for assistance has increased.

The drive will last all of April and a $25,000 donation from Northland Forest Products is starting it off.

“When Northland reached out to us it couldn’t have been at a better time, not only are we in a situation when we typically rely on that boost of donations to get us through to summer, but we are also anticipating an increase in need as layoffs are occurring and people are preparing to stay home,” said Dan Edwards, Executive Director of the Wood Buffalo Food Bank, in a release.

Northland is asking everyone, who is able, to donate any amount to help the non-profit.

“At challenging times such as these, food security should be something everyone’s friends and family members can count on,” added Craig and Howie Ewashko, Northland Owners.

“We’re just happy if our Northland family can bring a little more certainty to those who need it most and encourage others, if they are in a position to help, to please do the same.”

You can donate on the Wood Buffalo Food Bank’s Website.
