Third Death in Alberta From COVID-19, 40 New Cases Across Province

A third person in Alberta has died from COVID-19.

The provincial government announced on Sunday 40 new cases of the virus, bringing the total to 661.

The individual who passed away was in the Calgary zone which continues to be hit the hardest with 408 cases.

One other death was in the Calgary area while the other was in the Edmonton zone.

Locally, there are no new cases in Wood Buffalo, keeping the total at 4 in Fort McMurray.

The north zone, which includes the RMWB, now has 45 cases.

The others are in High Prairie, Slave Lake, Barrhead, Bonnyville, Cold Lake, Grande Prairie, Jasper, Hinton, Westlock, Peace River, High Level, and Valleyview.

Meanwhile, 60 cases are believed to be from community transmission.

Forty-one individuals are currently being hospitalized with 14 in the intensive care unit. Seventy-three have also recovered.
