cole Dickinsfield School is mourning the death of their principal.

Jodine Wells passed away on Saturday after a battle with cancer.

She began her career with the Fort McMurray Public School Division in 2009-10 as a teacher with the school.

After a couple of years, she was named vice-principal and later became the VP at Christina Gordon Public School.

At the start of the 2019-20 school year, Wells took on her role as Principal at cole Dickinsfield.

“In each role, Jodine brought tireless energy, a passion for teaching and learning, and was an advocate for her students and staff,” said Jennifer Turner, FMPSD Superintendent.

“Those who knew her in the school system referred to her as ‘the energizer bunny.”

The division is currently working on ways to celebrate Wells’ life while also meeting all physical distancing requirements.

Students and staff can also reach out to school counselors if they need extra support during this time.
