Four Local Organizations Splitting $3.9M For Homeless Initiatives

Four local organizations are getting funds to help the homeless population.

Wood Buffalo council met on Tuesday where they approved allocating funds from the federal and provincial governments to help local initiatives.

The Centre of Hope is receiving over $1.7 million for their housing first, permanent supportive housing, and eviction prevention programs.

The Salvation Army is getting around $567,000 for its housing first program.

The Wood Buffalo Wellness Society is slated to get more than $900,000 for its rapid re-housing and outreach programs and centralized intake services.

And, the YMCA of Northern Alberta is receiving roughly $707,000 for its housing first program.

The organizations are receiving a total of around $3.9 million.
