School districts across the province will be offering lessons for students to take at home.

The province announced on Friday new measures to help kids in K-12 continue their education. In-school classes have been suspended for the time being due to concerns over the coronavirus.

Moving forward, students will be able to take classes online or through other accommodations such as course packages and telephone check-ins.

“It is important that Albertans know that we are all working towards the same goal – to provide the best possible learning situation for our students during this very challenging and unprecedented time,” said Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Education.

Kids between kindergarten and grade 6 will be assigned up to five hours of work per week. Students in grades 7 to 9 will be given up to 10 hours of work per week, while grades 10 to 12 will be given up to three hours of work per course.

Students in grades 10 and 12 will get lessons on English, French, social studies, mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics. Kids in grades below will focus on mathematics, language, science and social studies.
