There are 23 new cases of COVID-19 in Alberta.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced the new cases on Tuesday which brings the province’s total to 97.

Two of the new cases are in the north zone, which includes the RMWB, bringing the total to three for northern Alberta.

Hinshaw says there also setting up an online map so residents can see exactly where these cases are located.

The Calgary zone continues to be hit the hardest with 70 cases. The Edmonton zone is seeing the second most cases with 20.

Five individuals are also recovering in the hospital while the other 92 are all at home self-isolating.

All five zones, except for the south zone, have at least three cases.

Meanwhile, the provincial government is announcing new measures for Albertans to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. This includes declaring a state of public health emergency due to the coronavirus.
