GoA Adds $500M to Provincial Health Budget for COVID 19 Concerns

Alberta Public Health is getting a $500 million increase in their budget for 2020.

Premier Jason Kenney announced Sunday their plans to continue to provide all of the resources necessary to help public health officials cope with the coronavirus.

“This is truly an unprecedented public health emergency for Alberta, and our government is committed to bolstering the efforts of our front-line health professionals with the resources they need to continue protecting the province.”

Kenney adds the province is ready to support Alberta’s health workers with whatever they need.

The money will be used to mobilize front line health workers and for testing, surveillance, and treatment of patients.

If you suspect you have contracted the virus and feel you need testing call 811 and begin self isolating.

More information, including the online self assessment test, can be found on the provincial government’s website.
