COVID-19 Concerns Forcing Facilities Across Wood Buffalo To Temporarily Close

Multiple facilities across Wood Buffalo are closing due to concerns over the coronavirus.

The Casman Centre, Frank Lacroix Arena, Doug Barnes Cabin, and Vista Ridge are temporarily shutting their doors to the public.

In Fort Chipewyan, the Sonny Flett Aquatic Centre, Archie Simpson Arena, Syncrude Youth Centre, and Mamawi Hall are all being temporarily closed.

On Friday, the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo also announced their facilities will be closed until further notice. This includes MacDonald Island Park, the Anzac Recreation Centre, and Conklin Multiplex.

The government of Alberta is also closing all schools across the province.

A number of local events have also been cancelled or postponed due to the province asking any event that’s expecting a crowd of 250 and more or international participation to be stopped.

Residents can find more information about COVID-19 by visiting the GoA’s website.
