The Supreme Court of Canada is dismissing five appeals against the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project.

The country’s top court announced on Thursday they would not hear the challenges from five groups in British Columbia.

They included appeals from local First Nations and environmental groups.

Back in January, the Supreme Court also ruled against the B.C. government’s attempt to block the project.

Premier Jason Kenney called the court’s decision ‘encouraging’ on social media noting it was another cleared hurdle for the project.

The Federal Court of Appeal also dismissed four challenges against the pipeline in February.

In their decision, they noted the groups failed to prove the Federal government failed to consult and accommodate during the re-initiated consultations.

The $12.6 billion expansion project is expected to be finished by 2022.
