Warm Spell Set To Hit Wood Buffalo

You may get to put your winter jacket back in the closet for a couple of days.

After an extreme cold warning on Monday, Environment Canada is forecasting warmer temperatures for the rest of the week.

Meteorologist Sara Hoffman tells Mix News the cold arctic air we were experiencing has come and gone for the time being.

“We’re expecting temperatures to improve… into Thursday and Friday we’re expecting well above normal temperatures.”

The temperature is expected to rise above zero for a couple of days this week.

The warm weather is well above average, however, it won’t come close to the record set back in 1942 where it nearly reached 14 degrees.

Meanwhile, we can expect the temperature to return to normal next week.

“There is the possibility of temperatures dropping again by the start of next week where we’ll be brought back to the normal range or perhaps slightly below but we’re not expecting those extreme cold temperatures,” added Hoffman.

She says we could experience extreme cold weather again in March.
