Northland School Division Receives $75K From Cenovus

Northland School Division is receiving a hefty donation from Cenovus Energy Inc.

The division announced Wednesday that they are receiving a $75,000 donation for the 2019-2020 school year.

NSD feels the donation illustrates a continued commitment to support NSD’s Literacy Initiative.

In a statement, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nancy Spencer-Poitras thanks the oil giant for their support in helping students achieve their potential.

“Cenovus continues to be instrumental in helping us deliver professional learning for our educators and operating summer reading programs.”

Board Chair, Robin Guild also thanked Cenovus for supporting their focus on literacy.

“The continued relationship we have with Cenovus puts NSD in a better position to help students achieve success.”

Cenovus Group Lead of Community Investment, Leanne Courschesne notes when these communities grow stronger, they do as well.

“That’s why we are committed to supporting young people as a part of our community investment focus area ‘Giving youth a chance.’ We understand the crucial role literacy can play in ensuring children are thriving at school and are pleased to continue our partnership with NSD on this initiative.”

Cenovus has supported NSD’s focus on literacy since 2014.
