With Valentine’s Day around the corner, love is in the air in the RMWB.

According to Amazon Canada’s 2020 List of Most Romantic Cities – Fort McMurray has been ranked the number one most romantic city in the country.

For the last seven years, Victoria BC has held top spot but this year – Fort McMurray took the honour.

The data is based on sales of romance novels (both print and Kindle editions), romantic comedies, relationship books, jewellery and sexual wellness products.

The ranking was compiled by comparing sales data from January 1, 2019, to January 1, 2020, on a per capita basis in cities with more than 20,000 residents.

Fort McMurray is one of five Alberta cities in the top 20, joining Bonnyville (#4), Grande Prairie (#7), Calgary (#12), and Edmonton (#15).

Toronto and Yellowknife came in at #2 and 3 respectively.
