“It’s Time” Kenney Wanting Approval of Frontier Oilsands

Premier Jason Kenney is calling on the federal government to approve Teck Resources’ Frontier project.

The Government of Canada is currently reviewing the project which would be located north of Fort McMurray and next to Wood Buffalo National Park.

Kenney went on social media where he stated Frontier has received ample support from local Indigenous groups and that it’s time to green-light the project.

This includes the McMurray Mtis and the Fort McKay Mtis.

This isn’t the first time Kenney and the provincial government have publicly stated their support of the project.

Back in November, Energy Minister Sonya Savage said projects like Frontier help encourage foreign investment.

“Provided the projects are in the best interest of Albertans, we need to hold up our end of the bargain by ensuring timely approvals.”

A Joint Review Panel recommended it’s approval back in July 2019.

Frontier would produce around 260,000 barrels of oil per day, creating around 2,500 jobs during their operations and 7,000 during construction.
