Salvation Army Extending Shelter Hours Due To Recent Cold Snap

The Salvation Army of Fort McMurray is keeping its doors open 24/7 during this cold snap.

Wood Buffalo is currently experiencing frigid temperatures with Environment Canada expecting this to last well into next week.

Due to the weather, the Salvation Army is extending the hours of their ‘All-Persons Mat-ter’ shelter and the Men’s Emergency Shelter.

Normally, the organization closes its doors at 4:30 p.m. with a few being able to sleep on mats overnight. This is decided through a first-come, first-served process.

Hot meals will also be provided to everyone.

Anyone who sees a vulnerable person on the streets is asked to refer them to the Salvation Army, so they can support them through a warm meal and warm place to stay.
