Yao Hoping For Big Turnout At Fair Deal Panel Town Hall

Alberta’s Fair Deal Panel is making its way to the RMWB.

The panel – which features Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo MLA Tany Yao, is consulting Albertans on how to secure a fair deal for the province in terms of advancing economic interests.

You’re encouraged to attend the local town hall to share your vision, with feedback being used to inform the panels’ recommendations to the Government of Alberta.

Yao tells Mix News Fort McMurray has a unique perspective that’s somewhat reflective of the rest of Canada.

“We have people from right across the nation that come here to work and are relatively new to Alberta. I would love to see a large turnout and get those views from people who are from all parts of the country, living right here in our community.”

Yao is hoping the meeting brings in a big local turnout from residents who wish to vocalize their concerns from a provincial perspective.

He adds this panel is not about getting special treatment from the Federation but simply about getting Alberta a fair deal.

“When the Federal government imposes rules and regulations that target our oilsands industry and our industry alone – those are really discouraging aspects, especially when we’re in an economic downturn.”

The Town Hall takes place on Wednesday 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Quality Inn and Conference Centre in Gregoire – with doors open at 6.
