What’s Open, What’s Closed For The Holidays

With the holidays upon us, many services and businesses will be changing their hours of operations through the RMWB.

If you need to get some last-minute shopping done, Peter Pond Mall is open Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. but will be closed for Christmas Day.

The mall is open for Boxing Day from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

On New Year’s Eve, the mall will again be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. but then closed for New Year’s Day.

The Suncor Community Leisure Centre at MacDonald Island Park is closed for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day but will be open on Boxing Day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

It will be open on New Years Day with limited services.

The Conklin Multiplex and Anzac Recreation Centre will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day

Meanwhile, Landmark Cinemas will be open throughout the holiday break – including Christmas Day.

There are also multiple outdoor rinks open which can be found on the municipality’s website.

Vista Ridge Ski Hill will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and January 1.

Transit:

When it comes to the transit schedule, there will be a few changes on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Regular service will be provided on Christmas Eve but on Christmas Day, only the 11, 12, 15 and 16 will be operating on a holiday schedule.

On Boxing Day, routes 11, 12, 15, 16 and 99 will be in use.

On New Years Eve, regular service will be provided with extend service on 11, 12, 15 and 16 to ensure everyone can get home safe from ringing in the new year.

Service on New Years Day will operate the same as Boxing Day.

Also, a reminder that transit fees will increase to $1.50 as of January 1.

Municipal Services:

Curbside garbage and recycling collection will not take place on December 25 and January 1st.

Those who were scheduled to receive pickup will receive this service on Saturday, December 28 and Saturday, January 4.

The Fort McMurray Landfill will be closed Christmas Day and New Years Day but will open at regular hours throughout the rest of the holidays.

Recycling sites will be set up throughout Fort McMurray for Christmas trees.

The municipality asks that you ensure the stand and all decorations are removed before bringing it to any of the marked drop off sites which are open from Christmas Day to January 15.

Municipal offices will be closed on December 25 and 26, as well as January 1.

All essential and emergency services will continue regular operations.

The Winter Maintenance Zone program will also be relaxed for the holiday season from December 24 until January 1.
