Community Christmas Dinner Back For 25th Year

If you’re alone or possibly struggling this holiday season, there’s still a way you can enjoy the holidays with company.

This year marks the 25th Community Christmas Dinner in Fort McMurray, being hosted by the Fort McMurray Knights of Columbus.

Spokesperson Peter Cooke tells Mix News this event really ensures no one spends the holiday’s alone.

“They’re are plenty of people who come out who normally would be alone and they come out and the people at the dinner potentially become their family for the day.”

On average, they see around 500 people at the dinner. Back in 2016, they fed a record 600 people.

Cooke says you don’t even realize just how many people come out.

“It’s a lot of people and the fact that it goes off so well… you don’t even realize there are so many people there, the flow to the event is unreal.”

People interested can head down to Father Turcotte school on December 25 from 12-2.
