Janvier Man Arrested in Lac La Biche For Resisting Arrest, Attempting To Steal Police Vehicle

A 32-year-old man from Janvier is being charged after allegedly attempting to steal a police vehicle in Lac La Biche.

On November 23, around 4:45 p.m., RCMP received reports of a suspicious man near the community’s Corner Gas.

After finding him sitting in a truck, he fled the scene on foot.

During the pursuit, the individual returned to the gas station and jumped into a police vehicle.

An officer removed him from the car but not before he placed it in reverse which made it back into a truck that was parked nearby.

The officer sustained minor injuries during the incident, however, no one else was injured.

As a result, Guynavin Grant Herman was arrested and charged with theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, resisting arrest, and failing to comply with an undertaking.

At the time of his arrest, an arrest warrant had also been issued by Wood Buffalo RCMP.

Herman remains in custody and will be in a Bonnyville Provincial courtroom on November 26.
