Woman With Ties To Wood Buffalo Named One of Canada’s Top 100 Women

A woman whose family is from Fort Chipewyan is being named one of Canada’s most powerful women.

Women’s Executive Network announced their 2019 most influential women across the country on Wednesday with Teara Fraser, CEO and Founder of Iskwew Air, among those chosen.

She launched her airline earlier this year in British Columbia, becoming the first Indigenous woman in Canada to do so.

“It fills my heart with gratitude to be honoured along side such amazing change-makers,” said Fraser, in a release.

“I am humbled and inspired by the matriarchs in my world – blessed to witness and learn from their incredible stories of strength, wisdom, warriorship, resilience, courage, humanness, hope and love.”

She was named in the Trailblazers and Trendsetters Award category, recognized for her achievement of launching her own airline.

Am Awards Gala is being held on Thursday in Toronto with around 1,300 guests expected to be in attendance.
