Update: 51-Year-Old Man Dies in Highway 63 Crash

A multi-vehicle collision on Highway 63 is claiming the life of a 51-year-old Calgary man.

On November 15, Wood Buffalo RCMP, along with Wood Buffalo Integrated Traffic Unit, received reports of a collision on the highway, south of Fort McMurray.

The man was confirmed to have died on scene, while another person was transported to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre with non-life threatening injuries.

Two others were also treated and released at the scene with minor injuries.

The Mounties conducted an investigation and determined alcohol and drugs were not believed to have played a part in the crash. However, the police note poor weather conditions had made the road icy and slippery.

The next of kin has been notified and the man’s name will not be released.
