The Fort McMurray SPCA fell well short of their goal for their annual Masquerade Ball.

The event was held in late October and raised around $18,000 for the non-profit.

In previous years, the event has brought in around double the amount with last year’s ball raising over $40,000.

Kennel Manager Selena MacIsaac tells Mix News the organization will be a little tight for money moving forward.

“That money will come out of our operations side of things and of course missing half of that is definitely going to take a toll on us.”

The SPCA is currently running around full capacity, receiving over 50 juvenile dogs and cats in recent weeks.

To help raise some more funds, the organization is looking to help out at upcoming events.

“The SPCA would come to an event that you held to run your coat check by donation or run a 50/50 draw in help to support the shelter.”
