Fort Chipewyan School Receiving Funding From Province For Modernization

The school in Fort Chipewyan is receiving funds from the province to help modernize the facility.

The Government of Alberta announced on Friday the new school projects receiving funding from the 2019-20 budget.

The Athabasca Delta Community School, which teaches kids from kindergarten to grade 12, is one of 25 schools receiving funding.

Back in June, Education Minister Adriana LaGrange said they were developing a plan to help the school as they currently deal with an ‘education crisis.’

No students were able to graduate during the last school year while 12 teachers also left the rural hamlet.

“High teacher turnover demonstrates that we still need to find solutions to the additional challenges facing the education system,” said LaGrange.

The 25 projects are getting a combined $397 million.
