Boeing 737 Take Flight Once Again At YMM

Boeing 737 Jets are making their return to the Fort McMurray International Airport for the Winter.

The airport announced Monday that the 700 series jet aircraft will be flying from Monday to Thursday, departing for Edmonton.

Vice President for Air Service and Commercial Development Brian De Ruiter says it’s an exciting time of the airport.

“We’re thrilled to see 737 Jet Service return to YMM for the Winter Season. It’s a big deal for us and the community and we are optimistic that we’ve reached a turning point.”

De Ruiter notes they will still provide Q400 service on Edmonton segment flights but this is good news for those looking for service in the afternoon from Monday to Thursday.

“More seats, more space, faster service. All of us at YMM are excited to see these beautiful planes back serving Fort McMurray on a regularly scheduled basis.”

The airport notes since the economic downtown, there has been a steady decline in passenger traffic at YMM.

They are hoping the return of the 737’s means they’ve reached a turning point.

Flights will depart on Monday-Thursday at 4:10 p.m.
