Syncrude Donates Over $2.3 Million To United Way’s Community Campaign

The United Way of Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo is getting a big boost from Syncrude.

The oil company announced Thursday that they are donating $2,333,400 toward the non-profit’s community campaign.

That puts United Way Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo well over halfway toward their campaign goal of $5 million.

Syncrude spokesperson Will Gibson tells Mix News it’s a special feeling being able to donate almost half of the campaign’s targeted goal.

“We’re very happy to support that work,” Gibson said. “I know our employees are happy to support it and we look forward to seeing United Way reach its goal this year with the help of Syncrude, its employees and other people and companies in the community.”

Gibson notes they’re proud to be continuing a tradition of supporting the non-profit, something the oil giant has prided itself on over the past 40 years.

He also says they want to be able to support the community that is home to so many of their employees.

“We see participating in these kinds of campaigns to build a strong and vibrant community. We understand the United Way and its agencies are a big part of that community. So, this is something we feel is very important.”

The campaign runs until mid-November.
