FMPSD Employee Wins Award For Work on Website

A Fort McMurray Public School Division employee is winning a National award.

Katie Elser, Executive Assistant to Superintendent Doug Nicholls, was awarded the BRAVO! Award from the Canadian Association of Communicators in Education on Monday in Winnipeg.

She won for her work redesigning the FMPSD website which launched in April.

“Visual communication and design is a passion of mine, and without the support of amazing team members and co-workers at Fort McMurray Public Schools, I would not have the privilege to share my passion on a daily basis,” Elser added.

The FMPSD website was last designed in 2013.

Elser surveyed principals and vice principals from the division’s 16 schools to see what changes they would like to see happen.

“Katie began with the end in mind, and delivered on all counts,” said Nicholls.

“She spent innumerable hours on this project – creating a template, impressive graphics, launching surveys, collecting feedback, speaking to staff, being cognizant of their requirements, and liaising with our web providers.”

Elser worked with CentralSquare on the project.
