Municipality To Host Truth And Reconciliation Sharing Circles

A pair of Truth and Reconciliation Sharing Circles are scheduled for next week.

You have a chance to participate in either session – to explore the past, talk about the present and examine the future of reconciliation in the RMWB.

Two sessions are taking place, with participants sharing collaborative discussions that will advance the Canadian reconciliation process.

Mayor Don Scott says this exercise will support moving the region forward on the path to reconciliation.

“The sharing circle offers an opportunity for residents from across the region to come together to discuss Truth and Reconciliation and help identify ways that we, as a community, can continue this important work together.”

Since 2017, the RMWB has engaged with Indigenous communities on how best to move forward and the sharing circle hopes to continue that momentum.

Several themes will be up for discussion including Language and Culture, Youth, Programs and Services, as well as Indigenous engagement and inclusion.

The sessions take place at the Shell Place Grand Ball Room next Wednesday at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and is free to the public.
