Greta Thunberg Planning Visit to Alberta

Climate and environmental activist Greta Thunberg is coming to Alberta.

The 16-year-old took to social media over the weekend to announce her plans to visit the province.

She didn’t explain where or when she’ll visit, however, a trip to Fort McMurray may not be out of the question due to concerns over to the oilsands.

Energy Minister Sonya Savage went on twitter to welcome Thunberg to the province.

“An opportunity for Greta to come here with an open mind, see our beautiful province and learn how Albertans are proud to produce energy the world needs with the highest environmental, social, and governance standards,” she said.

Thunberg has been touring Canada and the United States over the past few weeks holding climate strikes, speaking about the dangers of hurting the environment, and more.
