Local CIBC Run For The Cure Sees Big Turnout

Nearly $76,000 was raised locally through the CIBC Run for the Cure.

The annual event took place Saturday – with around 470 participants all running to raise funds for breast cancer research and to find a cure.

Co-Run Director Jennifer Aulenbach tells Mix News it’s great to see support for a great cause from so many community members.

“From the sponsors to the people who donated and showed up, I honestly just have so much gratitude. Our mayor was there, our MLA was there. It just really meant a lot to have an outpouring of love from our community.”

The overall total raised was as $75,846.91.

Aulenbach says a number like that, in addition to the turnout – has her in awe.

“I am so overcome with appreciation for Fort McMurray and all those that came out and supported our event – an important event – because it affects a lot of people even in our community.”

Next year’s run has already been set for October 4, 2020.
