Two Arrested After Drug Bust in Fort Chipewyan

Two people are facing trafficking charges after a drug bust in Fort Chipewyan.

On September 20, RCMP executed a search warrant on a residence in the hamlet where they found crystal meth, a firearm, and an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency.

The Mounties ended up arresting 28-year-old Alexander Bradford Waquan and have charged him with unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession for the purpose of trafficking, production of a controlled substance, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with conditions.

He also had outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest.

The police also arrested a woman who’s since been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Both have been released on bail with Waquan scheduled to appear in a Fort Chipewyan courtroom on November 7 and the woman on December 5.
