Single-Vehicle Collision Kills One, Seriously Injures Two Others

A single-vehicle collision is leaving one person dead and two others seriously injured.

On September 8, around 2:30 a.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP were called to Gravelstone Road in Stone Creek after a car veered off the road and struck a home.

A 17-year-old man from Athabasca, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 22-year-old driver was transported to an Edmonton hospital suffering from life-threatening injuries, while a 21-year-old man, who was also a passenger, was transported to the hospital suffering from serious injuries.

The crash also destroyed a gas line which forced several residents to evacuate the area while crews repaired the damage.

The Mounties continue to investigate the crash and are still considering all potential contributing factors.
