Wood Buffalo RCMP have charged a man with assaulting a police officer.
The Mounties say back on August 22, around 3 p.m., they located a stolen vehicle on a rural trail near the hamlet of Conklin.
RCMP located 30-year-old Mark Tremblay of Conklin, in the vehicle, and he was arrested on outstanding warrants.
During the arrest, he became combative with police who then deployed a Conducted Energy Weapon.
Tremblay suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at hospital.
He was then taken into custody without further incident.
Police are charging Tremblay with possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, three counts of assaulting a peace officer, two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to public, possession of prohibited firearm, transporting a prohibited firearm in a careless manner, possessing ammunition while prohibited, possessing a prohibited firearm while prohibited, unlawfully possessing controlled substance and six counts of failure to comply.
He will be in a Fort McMurray courtroom on September 9.
