A man is dead after saving his friend in the Snye.

Wood Buffalo RCMP were called to the waterfront on Friday around 8 a.m. after getting reports of a man who disappeared under the water.

The man reportedly entered the water after his friend became exhausted trying to swim to the shore.

He was able to save his friend but ended up drowning.

RCMP, Fort McMurray Search and Rescue, and Regional Emergency Services searched the water and found the man’s body in the afternoon.
