Former Fort McMurray Pediatrician Charged With Child Porn Offense

A former Fort McMurray pediatrician is being charged for possession of child pornography.

ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested 47-year-old Ghassan Alnaami on Sunday with help from Leduc RCMP and the Edmonton International Airport RCMP.

An investigation was launched in April 2019 after child pornography was allegedly uploaded to the internet. His devices have been seized and are currently being analyzed.

ALERT adds there’s no information to suggest any offenses were committed to children under his care.

Alnaami left Wood Buffalo back in 2017 noting concerns he had with the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre.

He’s since been released under a number of court-imposed conditions including not having any contact with anyone under the age of 16 and a restriction against working a job that involves a position of trust.
