Wood Buffalo RCMP are investigating a suspicious death that took place early Saturday morning.

The Mounties say around 7:20 a.m., they were called to assist Wood Buffalo EMS with an unresponsive male located on the ground near the intersection of McLeod Street and Franklin Avenue, downtown.

The adult male, whose identity is not being released, was declared deceased at the scene.

RCMP continue to investigate and no further details are being released at this time.
