MOB Head Coach Dubas Resigns, Promote Associate Coach to Head Job

The new Head Coach of the Fort McMurray Oil Barons is resigning.

Dave Dupas is leaving the team for family reasons after being named the bench boss back in May.

“Dave informed me of an opportunity that would allow him to be closer to his family in Kelowna,” said Oil Barons President David Fitzgerald, in a release.

“Although he served as our Head Coach and General Manager for a short period of time, his knowledge and professionalism this off season has been exceptionally valuable. On behalf of our organization, we wish Dave all the best in the future.”

Dupas says this was a very tough decision for him.

“Fort McMurray has been very welcoming to me and my family. The opportunity to come to the Casman Centre every day to coach the Oil Barons is an honour that is shared by few people.”

The MOB have named Bob Beatty as the new Head Coach. He was recently hired as an Associate Coach for Dupas’ coaching staff.

Beatty brings with him 21 years of experience in Junior A including three Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League with the Humboldt Broncos, La Ronge Ice Wolves.
